History buffs can learn all about historical combat aircraft at the Dixie Wing Historical Air Power Facility. The Dixie Wing is the 83rd unit of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), a group dedicated to preserving America's combat aircraft. In furtherance of this mission, the Dixie Wing maintains a squadron of carefully preserved aircraft that the public can come view to learn about our country's aviation history. The planes are kept available for viewing and are also flight-worthy. You can even take a ride in one of them. You can also take a further step and join the CAF, if you are up for it.
The Frederick Brown J
Peachtree City resounds with the sounds of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, a venue that has been bringing the best in entertainment to town for more than 30 years. The amphitheater has no shortage of big names rolling through, like the Four Tops, Grand Funk Railroad, and Huey Lewis and the News. The amphitheater's performance space is top notch, making a great experience for performers and also for those people who want to rent the space to add some character to a corporate retreat or presentation. Grab a seat at The Fred and you will not regret it.
Staying mindful of the future the folk of Fayette County, Peachtree City locals not least among them, helped create the Southern Conservation Trust, a community land trust dedicated to preserving the area's green spaces for later generations. The trust helps protect scenic spaces and environmentally sensitive habitats, often managing donated land as a public preserve. One such preserve is the Flat Creek Nature Area in central Peachtree City, a 500-plus acre wetland area. A boardwalk runs through the preserve so locals can enjoy the area without becoming mired in the wetland, with attached platforms available for scenic wetland viewing.
