  • What's a good neighborhood for families in Paramount?

The neighborhoods with the lowest crime rates in Paramount, and therefore the ones best for families, comprise a couple different areas of the city. The first, and the safest, is off Downey Ave and Somerset Ranch Rd. The second is near Orange Ave and Rosencrans Ave. There are two other neighborhoods--around Garfield Ave/Rosencrans Ave and then Downey Ave/Alondra Blvd--whose crime rates are slightly, but not too much, higher. The city center is the most dangerous area of Paramount and should be avoided.

  • Is Paramount pet friendly?

Although Paramount isn't home to any off-leash dog parks, it's a fairly pet-friendly place. There are quite a few parks within the city limits, including Progress Park, Paramount Park, and Simms Park, but pets must be kept on leash in these areas. Ralph C. Dills Park is located along the banks of the river, as is Hollydale Park in nearby South Gate. For hiking with your pets, Arroyo Pescadero Park in Whittier is just 30 minutes northeast of Paramount.

Easy Rider Shuttle, a fixed-route local bus, is also operated by the City of Paramount. For more information regarding system maps and timetables, consult the MTA, Long Beach Transit, and the City of Paramount's websites.
