The Aerial Tramway

If you only have one day to enjoy Palm Springs in all its glory, most locals will tell you to take the tramway to get a real feel for the city and soak up the views from up high. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world and takes you on a 12-and-a-half-minute ride up North America’s sheerest mountain face. Once you are at the top, the San Jacinto Wilderness is at your fingertips, and there is some great hiking to be done. You can also pop into the summit restaurant for a quick bite before beginning your adventures.

Palm Springs Film Fes

Hosted every year in January, the Palm Springs International Film Festival is a star-studded affair that brings all the big names in Hollywood out to the desert for a little culture and movie screenings. It is one of the largest film festivals in North America and open to the public. The city also hosts the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films as well, which is an academy sanctioned event. It is notable because more than 50 of the short films screened here have been nominated for an Academy Award, so it is a great place to catch up and coming films.
