The people of Pacheco have a great historical resource right at their front door in the John Muir National Historic Site. Muir's old home is the center of the site and the current home of the park's Visitor Center, where you can view a number of documents pertaining to the famous conservationist. The park also has a number of guided tours, of both the house and the surrounding grounds. Mount Wanda, named after one of Muir's daughters, is available for both hiking and picnicking, as are Muir's famous orchards. If nature is what you need, you will find it in abundance here.
