There are many quiet neighborhoods in Oxford. One of them is Abbeville. In a rural part of town with mostly single-family, medium-sized homes, residents here represent a mix of owners and renters, and are also of varying ages. Are there local sporting events in Oxford?
Yes, there are local sporting events in Oxford. Home to the University of Mississippi, these sports occur at the collegiate level. The Ole Miss Rebels athletic program competes in 18 men's and women's sports as part the twelve-member Southeastern Conference of the NCAA's Division I. For professional and semiprofessional sports teams, Memphis is located an hour and a half northwest of Oxford and is home to the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association, as well as a couple of minor league teams, including the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League (a Class AAA baseball farm team for the St. Louis Cardinals), and the Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League "Class AA."
