The Orcutt community understands the importance of giving children access to art programs. So, the Orcutt Children's Arts Foundation was created to provide the opportunity for kids to participate in the visual and performing arts. This foundation has been paired with the Orcutt Union School District since 2002 to ensure art programs are not cut when funding is threatened. It is the belief in Orcutt that arts play an important role in a child's development. This means each and every student from kindergarten through 6th grade receives lessons in dance, drama, music, or visual arts each year to support their creative growth.
Kay's Country Kitchen
By far the most popular restaurant in Orcutt is Kay's Orcutt Country Kitchen. It is a staple restaurant in Orcutt, serving up breakfast and lunch everyday. It is breakfast that Kay's is most known for, however, with huge crowds gathering here for their weekend brunch. Definitely the most popular breakfast dishes are the various omelets, with Kay's Omelet and the Too Much to Drink Omelet as top favorites. If you are looking for a refreshing beverage to accompany your breakfast or lunch, try a sip of the strawberry lemonade. Served in a sugar-rimmed mason jar, it will make you glad you skipped the coffee.
Street Painting Festi
Get inspired at the Old Orcutt Street Painting Festival. The festival is held on the last weekend of September each year, when roads of Old Orcutt are shut down, and professional, amateur, and student artists fill the streets with beautiful chalk artwork. Everyone is encouraged to come on out and view the beautiful artwork, as well as enjoy the arts and crafts vendors that will be displaying and selling their own creations. To get the kids involved, make sure to pick up a passpART, so your child can get in on fun with some hands-on art activities.
