Ontario, California
Ontario is located in San Bernadino County, is very accessible to Los Angeles and has a population of about 175,000 people. Originally a citrus growing area, it is culturally diverse and is today both a vibrant community for living and for working. When beginning a search for an Ontario apartment, know that there is a direct mass transit link into Los Angeles and that there is bus service, but being rather typical of Southern California, you will want to own a car.
Christmas Traditions
The Ontario Museum of Art and History is a wonderful example of incorporating both art exhibits and history. The fountain outside the building is an excellent Art Nouveau specimen and a source of town pride. Festivals are a year round tradition with Christmas being the peak. The city provides enormous three dimensional Christmas themes during that time. There is a very good Improv Theatre as well as ice hockey too. The surrounding areas provide golf courses, hiking and biking trails and the city parks system will provide ample tennis courts and other outdoor sports facilities.
Big Sushi
Your Ontario apartment will be the perfect place from which to start exploring the local eateries. You'll find some great chain places like Market Broiler and Fuddrucker's as well as some locally owned ones that are very good. Rosa's looks like a plain place outside but inside you'll get some of the best Italian food in the area. Toro Sushi is a favorite for not only fresh dishes but huge portions. Casa Sanchez is very authentic Mexican food and very popular with the locals and for splurging on a big steak, there's Porter's. The portions are huge and the steaks superb.
Midnight at the Oasis
Ontario has a varied night life scene. From quiet places like 256 Gallery which is a wine bar and art gallery to sports bars like JD Allisons to ‘gentleman's clubs' like Deja Vu, you can find about anything. The Oasis Night Club is a gay bar but has the best dancing in town and you'll find a variety of people go there. Wherever your Ontario apartment is located, you are likely to find a great little neighborhood place to call your own.

Is Ontario a good place for families?
Located just 35 miles east of LA, Ontario is one of California's fastest growing cities and has been for over 25 years. Its central location affords residents easy access to Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. It is the region's principal center for job growth with such major employers as the LA/ONT Airport and UPS located in town. The city also boasts affordable and available commercial real estate, a reasonable cost of living, a low crime rate, and over 400 acres of parkland. The Ontario Mills Mall is the largest outlet mall and entertainment center in southern California featuring fabulous shopping, imaginative restaurants, and dynamic entertainment. Ontario also hosts its own community events throughout the year including the Cinco de Mayo Fest, a Halloween Costume Parade, and Christmas on Euclid.

Will I need a car in Ontario?
Like most of Southern California, you will most likely need a car in Ontario. In fact, less than 3 percent of Ontario residents use mass transit to commute to work on a daily basis, while over 74 percent of the population drives a private vehicle to get around. These figures indicate that Ontario's public transportation system leaves a lot to be desired. However, there are some options available. The Metrolink station off of Haven Avenue connects Ontario with much of the Greater Los Angeles area, Orange County, and the San Fernando Valley. In addition, public bus transportation is provided by Omnitrans.
