Let Sleeping Giants Lie (But Go Ahead and Walk All Over Them)
When the weather is nice, renters should definitely take advantage of the beauty of the city, county, and state parks in and around North Haven (and this city has more than its fair share of them). From some parts of town, it’s possible to look out the window and see the figure of a slumbering stone giant. Brave residents of North Haven can trek over to Sleeping Giant State Park to get up close and personal with this rock formation, scrambling up the giant's legs and tromping all around on his head. This park has some great day hikes, just be sure not to wake the giant so that future generations will be able to enjoy hiking on him as well. North Haven is also home to the Quinnipiac River State Park. This slow moving river winds peacefully through town and is a great place to take out a canoe or kayak and fish for trout. There's also a walking trail along the banks, so folks can meander along the peaceful river enjoying the scenery or simply contemplating life. The city has plans for paving this trail to make it even easier for joggers and bicyclists to enjoy life along the river.
