The Elk Neck State Forest

Elk Neck Forest is right around 3000 acres and just a mile or two outside of North East, MD. It’s open for hunting, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and more. They have a great shooting range for bows, hand guns, shotguns and rifles. Flora and fauna are abundant, making the area home to migratory birds, evergreen trees, shrubs, azaleas and tons of gorgeous wildflowers. There are over 28 miles of foot trails and forest roads bordered by thick Maryland forests. Right in Town

In town or out, there is plenty to do in the city of North East. The town park has great picnic tables, pavilions and playgrounds, plus the city is right on the North East River which gives it fantastic boating, fishing and swimming opportunities. There are a ton of cool attractions in the area starting with St. Mary Anne’s Church, which was built in the 1740s with red bricks in an interesting rectangular shape. Lighthouses, museums, farms, golf, orchards, restaurants, shopping, nature centers and campgrounds are all waiting for you to come out and play.
