Sweet Corn and Blue M

Each August, the residents of Normal get together and celebrate corn and music at their annual Sweet Corn Blues Festival. Fresh sweet corn is the highlight of the festival, with over 50,000 ears of corn eaten in such a short amount of time. Festival goers can browse the sidewalk sales, enjoy food, vendors, art, crafts, and much more, all while enjoying some of the best blues music in the area. The festival starts on a Saturday in late August and runs until the corn is all gone. It is a great opportunity to get out, meet your neighbors, and sample what Normal is known for.

Challenge Yourself at

If you have spent your whole life on the ground, but have often wondered what adventures space may have to offer, Heartland Community College offers you a way to find out. Through their Challenger Learning Center, the college is able to bring to life real space missions through simulations, classes, and activities. Locals of all ages are encouraged to visit the campus and take advantage of the experience, which is brought to life by state-of the-art-training and technology. Full time college students have the advantage of putting the course towards a college credit or extra STEM training if they are teachers.
