How much should I expect to pay for utilities in New Iberia each month, depending on the time of year?
Because of the very hot summers and mild winters in New Iberia, monthly utilities will vary drastically by season. The bill will be highest in summer, when it's necessary to use the air conditioning on a regular basis. Also, it depends on the size of your house or apartment, the number of people living in your unit, and whether or not heat is included. On average a family of three can expect total utilities to cost about $200 per month.
What do people in New Iberia do as far as outdoor recreation?
With several large parks and lakes in the immediate vicinity, New Iberia residents shall not want for outdoor recreation. To the east lies Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, which lies next to Lake Fausse Pointe. Fishing, boating, and canoeing opportunities abound on the 6,000-acre site, and there are also several hiking trails and campsites. Attakapas Island Wildlife Management Area, located farther east of Lake Fausse Point State Park, offers hunting, fishing, and camping. Several wildlife refuges and conservation areas lie to the south near the Gulf of Mexico, which also allows for boating and fishing. There is also one golf course in town, located at Sugar Oak Country Club.
