Beautiful Rockland Lake State Park provides both sporting opportunities and year-round scenic hiking to New City locals. The park's eponymous lake sits square in the center of the park on a ridge of Hook Mountain. Hiking trails abound in the park, giving locals plenty of beautiful mountain terrain complete with views of the Hudson River to hike along. The park is a bird conservation area and home to bald eagles, Cooper's hawks, and many other bird species both endangered and not. Another attractive feature of the park is its huge swimming pool, which is more than 10,000 square feet larger than an Olympic pool.
