Antique Car Run
Gearheads in the New Brighton area are sure to enjoy the town's annual Antique Car Run, which runs from neighboring New London straight into the heart of New Brighton. The event is actually a tribute to an annual car run that runs from the namesake English cities of London to Brighton, which is on England's coast. More importantly, this event is all about celebrating and enjoying unique antique automobiles in a festive community setting. It began in the late 1980s and has been such a success that it has become a longstanding summer tradition in the area.
Indoor Playground Fun
It is no secret that winters in Minnesota can get pretty brutal. It can get tough for kids to choose between playing in the cold or staying cooped up inside. Luckily for families in New Brighton, there is an indoor playground that makes a perfect solution to beat the monotonous winter blues. The Eagles Nest playground is a safety-focused public play area geared toward kids up to 12 years old, with a special separate play area for kids age 3 and under. At the Eagles Nest, kids can amuse themselves with fun features like a ball pit, climbing wall, and multiple slides.
New Brighton Area His
Founded in the 1980s, the New Brighton Area Historical Society (NBAHS) is dedicated to preserving and teaching the legacy of this part of Minnesota. In addition to hosting regular meetings and annual events like the town's Stockyard Days and Rhubarb Festival, the New Brighton Area Historical Society also runs the local history museum, which is located in a refurbished train depot house in town. The museum has a charming display of antique clothing and equipment, including an old-timey telegraph machine. The NBAHS has also published a few books for those who would like to take their city's history home with them.
