Mundelein Parks & Rec

The Mundelein Parks and Recreation District maintains Mundelein's extensive network of parks. With 30 parks, there is no shortage of parks for locals to enjoy. Seasonal offerings from the district include Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center, where Mundelein families enjoy summertime fun at steeply discounted rates. Diamond Lake is a popular location year-round, with plenty of space for a lakeside picnic or sports playing. The district operates a number of facilities including the Park View Health and Fitness Center, Big and Little Child Development Center, and Diamond Lake Sports Complex, a series of outdoor game fields.

The Kirk Players

Mundelein locals are no strangers to the arts thanks to the Kirk Players, a local dramatic group. Founded by John W. Lynn, the players have been going strong for more than 40 years, and are members of multiple theatrical organizations, including the Illinois Theatre Association and the American Association of Community Theatre. All money made by the group's productions goes back into community art and arts programs. The group also helps administer the John W. Lynn Performing Arts Scholarship, a scholarship for local high school students who want to pursue an education in the performing arts.
