A Rich History
The city of Mount Vernon is something of an honor to the legendary soldier and president George Washington. His plantation home, set in Virginia, is from where this great city derives its name. Before becoming Mount Vernon, the Indian tribes of the region referred to the area as Epsewasson. In more modern days, circa 1960 and 1970, Mount Vernon became a place of separation, with Caucasians living to the north and the African-Americans living to the south, bringing to light modern cliches. Today, the city is less divided by the results of the history that is the city can still be seen and felt today.

The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden is a New York landmark located in Mount Vernon. It is noted as the eighth oldest building in the area. The museum hotel is a place of history, but a place of beauty as well. Carefully maintained through the years, the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden has a nostalgic feel that takes visitors back in time. Complementing this vintage look are the well-kept grounds featuring beautiful flowers in bloom during the spring and summer months. Held here are various art exhibits and workshops throughout the year. Members, residents, and visitors alike are encouraged to attend.
