There are some awesome places to spend time outdoors, and you will want to be outdoors. Most of the year anyway. The weather is near perfect. When it’s not hot hot hot hot. The city has parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and plenty of places to get active. Montebello wants you off that couch! The Montebello Parks and Recreation Department offers many programs and activities for everyone in the family, from kiddos to Granny and Gramps. If you like golfing, check out the Montebello Golf Course. The course started back in the 1920s and is considered by many to be one of the best public courses in southern California. The 18-hole public course has several lakes (pretty) and offers lessons. So if you want to take up golf, this is the place to do it! The city has an amazing skateboard park and a great Aquatics Center as well.

Grant Rea Park is just waiting for you and your family to come and have fun fun fun. This place has barnyard animals, a merry-go-round and a train. Animals, merry-go-round and a train? Yes, it’s true. This may be Heaven.

Care to stroll down memory lane? All history buffs and lovers should check out the Montebello Historical Society. The society runs an incredible museum and the Sanchez Adobe Historic site in Montebello. You can check out the museum on Saturdays and, bargain alert, admission is free! Sweet. The adobe home was built back in the 1800s and is a historic landmark. Keep an eye on their calendar, these guys offer some pretty cool special events and programs. You can take part in hands-on brick making, candle making, and butter making. Start working up those churning muscles!

From your new apartment, you’re just minutes from Downtown Los Angeles, so you can go Downtown to work or just to play. Grab some grub in Chinatown, see a show at the Music Center, or catch the L.A. Philharmonic at Disney Hall. Tour the Civic Center, sign up for an L.A. Conservancy Tour, take in some art at the Museum of Contemporary Art, or check out some of the smaller art galleries. Grab some food at Grand Central Market or try out one of the fine dining restaurants in the area.
