Washington Park Zoo
Washington Park Zoo is a small zoo with much to offer. Around since the late 1920s, it consists of 15 acres on a sand dune near the lake and houses more than 200 animals. Admission is affordable, and patrons have a pleasant time strolling through the zoo to see all of the wildlife. The enclosures allow you to see the animals face-to-face, and the old tower offers a stunning view of the park and lake. You can also feed the birds and let the land on you. Children will enjoy feeding the goats are watching the otters play and swim.
Take a stroll through history as you tour Barker Mansion. Home of John H. Barker, the builder behind Haskell & Barker Railroad Car Company, it is a stunning 38-room mansion built in 1857. Your experience begins with a short video about the history of the mansion, and then an experienced guide will narrate as you walk through the house. Visitors love the majestic garden as well as seeing all of the historic furnishings still remaining in the home.
