The climate of Merrimack features four distinct seasons: warm summers, very cold winters, and mostly mild but somewhat unpredictable springs and autumns. Merrimack is located in the midst of many parks and forests where you can take your pets as long as they are kept on leash (and sometimes not). These include Indian Rock Open Space, Birches Open Space, Currier Road Conservation Area, Watkins Forest, and Bradford Woods Open Space, among others. Two of the largest green spaces in the area lie to the east across the Merrimack River: Litchfield State Forest and Musquash Conservation Area. Bear Brook State Park, located about 45 minutes to the north, is also a great place for hiking with your pets.
