Naperville, Illinois

Naperville, Illinoise lies just 28 miles southwest of Chicago and is consistently named on the best places to live lists. With a population of just under 150,000, it is a city that combines the best of small town life with the bigness of Chicago just miles away. In searching for your Naperville apartment, know that the automobile is the chief mode of transportation but that the town is very walkable and there's great mass transit into Chicago.

Meet the Mayor

The key attraction in Naperville is Riverwalk. It's a four mile stretch of winding paths that border the DuPage River as well as historic and residential areas of the town. It's very beautiful and now an integral part of city life. Moser Tower with its Millenium Carillon system of 72 bells is something everyone should see or hear at least once.Downtown, the Naper Settlement is a recreation of how the town once looked and is really interesting to visit. Also downtown, is Naperville's most famous resident, Scott Huber. He's a homeless man who lives just east of Barnes and Noble. You can't miss his encampment because it is surrounded by all sorts of protest signs. He'd like to become mayor of the town and is very friendly. Many people drop by and talk with him each day.

Outposts in Naperville

There are plenty of good eateries and one is bound to be near your Naperville apartment. Two favorites are actually outposts of famous Chicago places. Catch 35 for seafood and Hugo's Frog Bar & Fishhouse are both very good with fresh seafood delivered daily from their headquarters. For special occasions, Meson Sabika offersSpanish cuisine in a 150 year old mansion which also has beautiful outdoor seating. There are plenty of fast food and everyday type places too.

Downtown at Night

Downtown Naperville is where everything happens at night. There's a large concentration of great restaurants and lively bars for every taste. From live music to karaoke to sports bars, they are all downtown. Club Mamalu is a big intimate bar and place to listen to music while Frankie's Blue Room has well known local bands that play everything from salsa to swing. For nights on a patio, try out Potter's Place. Fantastic burgers and lively clientele make it a great place just to hang.

You'll love this city and your Naperville apartment.
