Melbourne, which is located in the southern region of central Florida, is the second largest city in Brevard County. Melbourne has a population of about 76,000 people, and is part of a metropolitan area that also includes the neighboring cities of Palm Bay and Titusville. Well known for its close proximity to both Orlando and the Space Coast, Melbourne is not to be confused with Melbourne Beach, a city that's located along the Florida coastline.

Melbourne has multiple options for transportation, including road, air, rail, and bus. The roads coming in and out of the city include US Routes 1 and 192, Interstate 95, and State Routes 507, 404, 508, and 518. The Union Cypress Company Railroad and the Florida East Coast Railway both run through the city, though they are primarily used for freight. The Space Coast Area Transit and Greyhound Bus Lines carry most of the city’s bus traffic. Melbourne is unique in that it subsidizes a few routes inside the city, allowing residents to ride free of charge.

Pilot Training College

The premier school in town is the Pilot Training College, which offers commercial pilot training. PTC has its primary facilities in Melbourne, but it also has a facility in Ireland, for those pilots thinking of studying abroad. With a variety of programs that allow pilots to train for a commercial license, PTC has become a popular place for those interested in aviation. Many of the commercial pilots now working at the Melbourne International Airport earned their wings right here in their hometown.</p>

Foosaner Art Museum

<p>The Foosaner Art Museum is the premier museum in the Melbourne area. Works from internationally and nationally renowned artists, as well as local Florida artists, are all on display here. The museum's exhibits have become quite popular with the locals and tourists alike. Though the museum has been around for almost forty years, just a few years ago it merged with the Florida Institute of Technology, drawing additional funds and resources. Recently, the most popular exhibit at the museum was &Ograve;A Mysterious Clarity, which held works from three faculty members of the Florida State University Fine Arts program.</p>
