Map & Local Information

Is Marina famous for any kind of restaurant or food in particular? What's the local favorite?
Marina isn't known for any one restaurant or food. Like any coastal town in Northern California, the culinary scene in Marina is comprised of a mix of many different cuisines, many of which showcase California's fresh local produce, including seafood, based on the proximity to the ocean. Locals enjoy Frutti Del Mar and Dishes Bistro and Grill.
Why should I move to Marina?
With a population of about 20,000, Marina is a city in Monterey County, California. Specifically, Marina is located along the central coast of California, 8 miles west of Salinas (an interesting fact for Steinbeck loyalists), and 8 miles north of Monterey. The area's moderate temperatures year-round attract those averse to extreme hot and cold, and the dramatic coastline attracts the seafaring and the aesthetically appreciative. With 23 crimes per 1,000 residents, Marina has a crime rate that is noticeably lower than the average when compared to other communities of similar population size. Marina is also a great place for outdoorsy types; Fort Ord Dunes State Park, located in neighboring Seaside, California, is a popular place for horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and cycling, and it abuts Marina State Beach.
Is Marina pet friendly?
Yes, Marina is pretty pet-friendly. It's home to one off-leash dog area, Marina Dog Park, which has a separate small dog area and drinking water. Since dogs are not allowed at Marina State Beach, Marina residents must bring their pets to other coastal areas in the area. These include Monterey State Beach, Asilomar State Beach, Carmel River State Beach, and Garrapata State Park, where dogs are allowed on leash.
