One of the advantages of being located on the Ohio River is having a front row seat to events that require…well, a river. Such is the case with the high-speed powerboat racing that punctuates the festivities at the Riverfront Roar. This annual event attracts thousands of visitors to Marietta and is a major source of local entertainment, as well as revenue for local businesses. Watching these aquatic cousins of race cars skimming the water at breakneck speeds is an exciting experience. Spectators will picnic and cook out along the shoreline during the length of the entire multiple-day event.
Marietta Aquatic Cent
You do not have to head to the river to have some aquatic fun in Marietta. Instead, you can head to the Marietta Aquatic Center for a bit of refreshing coolness. This venue is a great destination for the entire family when you want to beat the heat or just have fun in the pool. The center has two giant water slides and a splash pool that the kids are sure to get a kick out of. There is even a zero depth pool for the tots to enjoy as well. Amenities include concessions and swim lessons, giving the center something for everyone to enjoy.
Marietta's Soda Museu
Marietta’s Soda Museum is a slight misnomer, but only slight. This is a soda shop in pure 1950s styling. You cannot get enough of this quaint venue with a motif that is reminiscent of this 20th century era. As such, you will love the vintage ice cream sodas and milkshakes you can purchase here. Even the Coco-Cola vending machine will provide you with a vintage bottle of the namesake beverage. There is also an impressive collection of Coca-Cola bottles from over the decades on display, as well as various other soda-related memorabilia, making this museum a must-visit destination.
