Hit the Trails
One of Madera’s most appealing qualities is its proximity to Yosemite National Park. Some of the most beautiful and majestic scenery in America awaits you here with a backdrop of tall mountains and tranquil trails. Make a weekend of the adventure by camping at one of the park’s 13 campgrounds. Whether you want to stick close to the camps or go the distance with hiking mountains, this scenic splendor will fast become a favorite place to go. For a quiet day at the park, visit Lions Town & Country Park in Madera, and pack a picnic or take a leisurely walk.
Fine Wine and More
A stone’s throw away from Yosemite National Forest is the Madera Wine Trail, where you can travel through the heart of wine territory and sample some perfect pinot. When you need some sustenance, head back to Madera and take a seat at the Black Bear Diner. This cozy eatery has some of the best pie in the city. For Mexican food, Sal’s Mexican Restaurant will satisfy your appetite with their delicious chicken quesadilla. When only a slice of pie will do, Pacifica Pizza can make one piled with tasty toppings. The prime rib will be primo if you find yourself at Farnesi's Restaurant.
An Abundance of Art
The Madera County Arts Council creates a spectacular array of art events each year in Madera. The Holiday Art Affair in November features original works for sale, with pottery, glass, sculpture and many other mediums. If attending live music performances is more to your tastes, feast your ears on beautiful music in the summer during the Summer Concert Series. Everything from big band to eclectic rock is performed during these events. Art exhibit lovers will linger for hours during the “Revillier Art Exhibition,” held every February by Quady Winery and featuring the finest in contemporary art.
