There are two places in Lynchburg that are part of the Virginia State Birding and Wildlife Trail: The Blackwater Creek Natural Area and Percival’s Island Natural Area. In these nature preserves, you’ll be able to see some awesome birds and animals; all you need to do is look. You might even get to see foxes, turkeys, opossums, migrating waterfowl, or herons. So, keep those peepers peeled and those binoculars at the ready! To experience nature up close, grab the kids and head over to The Nature Zone in the Kemper Street Train Station. The Nature Zone is hands-on, nature-iffic fun for everyone in the family.
An Eye on the Arts
The arts are alive and well here in Lynchburg. In town, you’ll find the Lynchburg Symphony, the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center, the Maier Museum of Art, and the Daura Gallery Museum. If you have kids, the Rightmire Childrens Museum offers exhibits and programs that will enrich, educate, and show everyone in the family that museums can be a blast!
