Loveland: “Sweetheart of Ohio”
Lovingly called the “Sweetheart of Ohio,” Loveland does have something sweet to offer residents. It has good schools, a friendly small-town atmosphere, an active arts and culture scene, and amazing opportunities for outdoor play. Loveland is a great place to live whether you’re single or bringing along a gaggle of six (seven if you count your spouse).
Loving the Parks
The parks in Loveland have it all: athletic fields, playgrounds, and trails to hike, bike, and meander along. If you’re into rivers and streams, you’ll be happy to hear that Loveland is on the Little Miami River. The Little Miami Scenic Trail is a great place to go if you’d like to stroll along the water or fish for trout. Be sure to check out the East Loveland Nature Preserve as well. Here, you can look and listen for critters and feathered friends or drop a line in the waters of the O’Bannon Creek to see what you can catch. This is nature at its best. Nearby Lake Isabella is a large lake where you can boat, fish, canoe, and play. This park even has special programs, such as night fishing and kids’ tournaments. If golf is your thing, we’re pleased to report that there are plenty of great places to hit the links in and around Loveland.
Loving History
Loveland’s Historic District is not just for history buffs. Sure, the buffs will be tickled pink here, but there is much more to the Historic District than just plain history. Art galleries, theater, world-class restaurants, sweet shops, and boutique stores dot the quiet downtown streets. There’s even a Farmers’ Market during the warmer months. If what you’re after is history, check out the Greater Loveland Historical Society Museum. Here, you’ll get to take a little trip back in time without having to pull out your gas-guzzling time machine. Hooray! The historical society also throws some fun special events, including the Victorian Christmas Open House, where you’ll see time-tourists from the late 1800s. (Okay, they’re probably just actors dressed in Victorian garb, but real Victorians would be indistinguishable from these phonies!)
Loving the Arts
The arts are alive and well in Loveland. Check out the Loveland Stage Company, the Loveland Arts Council, and the Artists’ Studios on Main. There are also some special events that go on throughout the year, including the Loveland Art Show in Nisbet Park, Paint Out along the Loveland Bike Trail, and the Winter Art Show. Are you and Loveland destined to be together forever? The only way to find out is to move into your shiny, new pad and start living in Loveland.
