Although at first it may look like an enormous boulder dropped in the middle of a field, you are actually looking at Stone Mountain. Technically known as a dome monadnock, or small stone mountain, it is composed of quartz and granite. If that is not enough to impress you, you should also know that engraved on its face is the largest bas-relief carving in the world depicting Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Explorers looking to get a view from the top can walk up the trail on the west side of the mountain or take a ride in an aerial tram.
