Lewisville is located 20 miles north of Dallas and is a thriving place of around 100,000 people. While it started out as a sleepy town with a livery stable and a grist mill, today it is a busy small city with many large companies and easy living.Bordered on both the north and south boundaries by large lakes, Lewisville provides excellent lifestyle and affordable housing.
Its proximity to both Dallas and the enormous DFW Airport make it popular with both commuters and people who work for companies located in the immediate area. Verizon maintains several facilities in Lewisville and there are other smaller companies who have located there.
Better by the Lake
When starting the search for your Lewisville apartment, know that a car will be necessary in this area. A light rail system into Dallas is planned but not yet operable.
Apartment complexes will range from small, older buildings to big modern facilities complete with pools and recreational facilities. Many are built near the lakes which is especially attractive for those into boating or other water sports.
Theatre and Golf
The Lewisville Community Theatre was built in 1885 and is the city's oldest standing structure. It's always fun to see a production there. Also visit the historic old downtown area. You'll find shops and restaurants and festivals planned throughout the year.
If you are a golfer, you'll find many courses in and around the Lewisville area. Tour 18 is especially interesting because each hole is designed around a famous one somewhere else. There are famous recreations from Augusta, Doral and more. Marinas along with lakeside camping will be close by wherever your Lewisville apartment is located.
Mom and Pop Places
Lewisville is full of family owned small restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. You'll be pleasantly surprised at low prices and high quality. Sugar Babe's is the place for barbeque but if chains are your thing, you'll find those at some of the local malls.
Dance While You Bowl
Since the city only recently received a liquor license, you'll find many new bars and night spots have opened. Even the local AMF bowling alley has jumped on the band wagon. Friday nights, the lights go down and there's dancing and bowling with quite an eclectic crowd too. Or combine some great Asian food and bar life at Tao Asian. It's quite a good night place and certain to be near your new Lewisville apartment!
