To the northwest lies Government Canyon State Natural Area, which offers many hiking trails but no overnight camping. Farther west of this area is Medina Lake, which offers fishing, Medina Lake has been stocked with species of fish intended to improve the reservoir for recreational fishing. Fish in Medina Lake include largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, and catfish.
