Does Lawrence have any famous museums or exhibitions?
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, University of Kansas' Natural History Museum in Lawrence displays its galleries in Dyche Hall on the college's main campus. Open to the public from Tuesday through Sunday, the museum showcases an impressive collection of invertebrate fossils, bird and mammal skeletons, and even a few jackalopes and the famous Comanche horse, all within its beautiful Romanesque style building. Also located within the university, the Spencer Museum of Art (known to locals as the SMA) boasts a diverse collection of art and works of cultural significance with no charge for admission. Established in 1974, the Lawrence Arts Center supports the visual and performing arts with a gallery space, performance space, art studios, and a gallery shop.

Are there big sporting events that people in Lawrence enjoy attending?
Closely followed by many of Lawrence's locals during the winter season, the University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball team is a three-time NCAA champion (in 1952, 1988, and as recent as 2008). The university's football team is also celebrated in town, achieving bowl eligibility in four of the past five years, including their impressive 12-1 record and Orange Bowl championship in the 2007 season. Lawrence's pride for their hometown college teams can be easily observed by the 30 "Jayhawks on Parade" sculptures that are sprinkled throughout the city.
