University of Kansas

Known as one of the best college towns in the country, Lawrence is home to the University of Kansas (KU). This public university opened its doors in 1866 and enrolls approximately 25,000 students each semester. KU also ranked at 47 on U.S. News and World Report's list of top public universities in the country for 2014. The university's main campus in Lawrence is over 1,000 acres, with beautiful historic buildings and lots of green space. The university’s sports teams, known as the Kansas Jayhawks, are also loved throughout the town by students and residents alike. With NCAA Division I and Big 12 Conference teams, you can feast your eyes on a city decorated in red and blue quite regularly.

Time at the Replay Lo

When looking for a great show and a good drink special, look no further than the Replay Lounge. This locally owned bar and music venue is one of the most popular in Lawrence. So popular, in fact, it was named one of the top 25 bar venues in the country by Esquire Magazine in 2007. The Replay Lounge hosts a unique music event nearly every night of the week. Typically, this includes a live DJ on the patio and a band on the stage inside. For the hopeful singers out there, Replay also has a popular karaoke night each Monday.

Street Performance Ar

If street performers always seem to catch your attention, then you will love the Lawrence Busker Festival. Busking is the act of performing in public places for money, and Lawrence holds an event each August to celebrate these street performers, whether they are musicians, jugglers, or balloon artists. At the festival, there are five stages with continuous performances, where people can gather for free to enjoy hours of entertainment. One of the best events of the festival is the Busker Ball, which is held at the Granada Theater. It features the best performers of the festival and is followed by an informal meet and greet.
