Year-round Celebratio

Lancaster loves a good festival and has plenty of them throughout the year. The most famous is the Red Rose Festival honoring its famous flower. This weekend-long event features live country and rock music, dancing, Zumba lessons, food, arts and crafts, and much more. Fall means it is time for the Community Yard Sale. Held in Lancaster’s historic downtown, everyone is welcome to get a booth to sell or browse and buy. Enjoy the sweet sounds of bluegrass, pop, and jazz during the Finally Friday Summer Concert Series. One Friday a month from June to September, residents take to the street for hand-clapping, foot-tapping fun.

A Haven for Art

Lancaster is home to Bob Doster, an internationally acclaimed artist who works in metal design. He is known for his unique modern style in sculpture and furnishings. You can see many of his works at his downtown gallery, including pieces available for purchase. If you prefer art to be auditory, the Chamber Choir performs concerts three times a year. They also hold open auditions for those interested in joining the chorus. For performing arts, take in a production by the Community Playhouse of Lancaster County. They perform popular plays and musicals several times a year, from classics to the latest Broadway hits.
