About Lancaster, CA
Lancaster has a population of 55,000 people and is not only the county seat but the center of the county. For one day in 1777, it was the capital of the United States. It had prominence during the Revolutionary War, and later became an important iron foundry town. Perhaps, one of the most famous things invented and made in Lancaster is the Conestoga wagon, which helped pioneers make their trek to the West and is named after the river flowing through the city.

Smorgasbord's of Food

Once settled into your Lancaster apartment, you will realize what a food town this is. With a plethora of fresh food available, you may want to cook a lot but don't miss out on places like Shady Maple which has a smorgasbord available at breakfast lunch or dinner. Locals also swear by the Lyndon City Diner, as well as The Lancaster Dispensing Company (yes, it is a restaurant) and Gibraltar for more upscale evenings. The city is literally sprinkled with great dining so have fun checking places out.

Brews in Lancaster

Lancaster has always had some good breweries, and it still does. Bube's Brewery is in its original 19th C. building while Stoudt's has great beer and a fantastic restaurant too. The Chameleon Club and the Belvedere Inn both offer live music and it just depends on your scene as to which you'll like best. If you want something close to your Lancaster apartment, you'll probably be in luck. There are great little pubs all over town.
