Local Talk

Get answers about Lambertville from local experts or tell us what you love about it.

  • Is Lambertville a town where I'll need a car to get around?

Yes. Being a small city, Lambertville does not have a public transit system used by locals to get to and from work. One downside of living in Lambertville, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 30.26 minutes every day commuting to work. Not great. The Des Moines area's public transportation system, DART, does not extend to Pleasant Hill. And, as a city of under 8,000 people, Pleasant Hill's population is neither large nor dense enough to support a transit system of its own. Thus, Pleasant Hill is a very car-oriented town. In addition, residents on average have to contend with a relatively long commute, spending an average of 30 minutes a day driving to work.

  • What kinds of job opportunities are available in Lambertville?

Neither predominantly white-collar or blue-collar, Lambertville offers a diverse range of jobs. Primarily a city of professionals, sales and office workers, and managers, many Lambertville residents work in sales jobs (13 percent), office and administrative support (12 percent), and management occupations (11 percent). The top ten industries in which Lambertville's workers are employed are retail (15 percent), professional, scientific, and technical services (14 percent), manufacturing (10 percent), education (10 percent), construction (8 percent), accommodation (7 percent), public service (6 percent), healthcare (6 percent), arts (5 percent), and information technology (4 percent). After that comes transportation (3 percent), administration (3 percent), finance (3 percent), and wholesale (2 percent).
