Thrills in Laguna Hills

Laguna Hills is beautiful, no doubt about it. And you have access to a great many outdoor places and spaces to enjoy that lovely weather all year long. You have gorgeous beaches a mere 20 minutes away in Laguna Beach and incredible wildlife areas, state parks, and tide pools are even closer to your new apartment. A good way to get an overview of what’s around these here parts is by taking a OC Wildlife and Beach Tour. From shopping tours and art tours to eco-tours and wildlife exploration, if you’re the kind of person who likes a guide, this is a great place for you.

The city sits on one of the best fossil sites in America, so the city works to educate and display remnants and reminders of the past. Costeau Pit is a fossil site where residents can go to check out the remains of animals like mammoths, mastodons, giant sloths, and saber-toothed cats. Yes, these creatures did actually exist. Hard to believe they were traipsing through Laguna Hills. Fossil Reef Park is another incredible fossil site. Here you’ll see marine fossil vertebrates and even shark teeth. Can you say “tube worm?” Oh, yeah. This place is cool. Visit the Got Fossils site to learn more about this interesting aspect of the area, or to print out some fun fossil-inspired coloring pages and get busy. You can also play some fossil games on the site. I think someone is going to be busy for the next few hours… If you prefer the indoors (you probably shouldn’t live here) fossils are also on display in the lobby of the city’s Community Center and Sports Complex. There are tours available too, so you can further understand and experience the unique displays. Moving on from the fossils, (it is difficult to do here in Laguna – come on, you gotta admit it’s a cool town trait) the community center is a hub of activity. In addition to all a gymnasium, art room, classrooms, and activity rooms, the center also houses an art gallery and the Technology Branch of the Orange County Public Library.

Parks and Clubs

The city works to keep residents inspired to get active and stay healthy through many parks, playgrounds, sports, and programs for everyone in the family. The Get Fit Campaignbegan in 2005 and offers exercise and nutrition classes to residents. The wide range of classes and activities offered include healthy cooking classes, hip-hop yoga, and karate. Fun and healthy, what a concept!

There are some great golf courses in and around the area and ohhhh, those views! Dang. Even if you’re not a golfer, you might just want to start. Check out Aliso Viejo Country Club in the neighboring town of Aliso Viejo.

If you’re lucky enough to move to your new apartment in Laguna Hills, enjoy it. It’s awesome.
