LaPorte County Fair
The LaPorte County Fair takes place annually in La Porte. The fair provides friendly competitions such as demolition derbies and harness racing as well as 4-H displays and carnival rides. The fair sets itself apart from the typical county fair with the addition of Pioneerland, a living history representation of the early 1800s. Historic Walking Tour
The Stroll Along the Avenues is a walking tour of the historic district in La Porte. This beautiful district is encompasses Michigan and Indiana Avenues. Participants in this self-guided walk have the opportunity to view buildings such as the public library, gorgeous churches, and old houses with outstanding architectural features. They may also choose to use an accompanying brochure that highlights the beauty and outstanding features of 20 buildings within the district. These buildings showcase styles such as the Eastlake style, Colonial style, and the Tudor Revival. Architectural enthusiasts will revel in design aspects like towers, cornices, slate roofs, and appealing lines.
