Galveston Bay is teeming with fish begging to be caught and provides easy access by boat to the ocean for even bigger game. There are a number of fishing piers along the coast in La Porte, including one in the famous Sylvan Park, which lend themselves well to a casual trip. However, a lot of the action happens far from shore in the bay or in the Gulf of Mexico, so a boat is needed to get to these fish. For the ultimate in convenience, there are dozens of companies in the area which offer guided fishing tours or boats to rent.
