Village Park is the city’s big one with a great walking trail, playground, picnic shelters, and some super cool features, like the very awesome “Splash Pad.” That’s right, fun-loving folks head to the Splash Pad for splashing, spraying, water cannons, and loads of wet, summer, fun. The Rotary Express Train in the park is a mini replica of a locomotive. For a buck you can go for a little ride around the park. So awesome. There is also an amphitheater at the park for great events like summer concert series and movies in the park. Bakers Creek Park is another favorite. The park has 40 acres to explore, picnic shelters, grills, a miniature golf course, awesome playgrounds, and more.     True to a city of about 43,000 people, Kannapolis' nightlife is adequate but nothing to write home about. As there is no one main area for after-dark carousing, most bars are scattered across town. These include Old Stone Vino, West A Street Lounge, and Rumba Tropical, as well as numerous barbeque joints that also serve alcohol. Bordering the south side of the city, neighboring Concord has a few watering holes, including Branchview Tavern and several chain restaurants with bars. For a big night out, Charlotte is only a half hour's drive south.

    Based on safety and quality of education, Kannapolis isn't the best place for families, but it isn't the worst.
