Almost 15,000 people call this nearly 4-square mile, diverse city “home.” The median age is 33, so this is a relatively young place to be. Average temperatures in Jennings are… very average. They’re actually smack dab in the middle of the national average, so, on average, it’ll get up to around 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and down to around 30 in the winter. The town is right next to two powerfully famous rivers: the Missouri River and the Mississippi River. Pretty cool. The city is also just a stone’s throw from the Illinois state line. The happy and fun looking staff (seriously, click to check them out) at the Jennings Recreation Department clearly works hard to keep residents active and healthy. The department offers a nice range of activities for the young and not-so-young from Model Boot Camp (perhaps you’re living with the next Kimora?) and Kids Club to Basketball and Computer Classes. The department also has some spirited and fun special events throughout the year like Christmas for Kids, Jenningsfest, and the aptly named, “Best Thing I’ve Ever Tasted Festival.” Sounds yummerific.

Are you obsessed with the idea of hopping in a time machine and trekking off into the past? Maybe that’s a bit dramatic and you just like things that are old. Either way, check out the Jennings Historical Society to learn all about local history. If you’re a joiner, you can join the society and help preserve the past. (You’ll probably get use of the town time machine as well. Score!)

Head Outside

Residents relish the fairly new and very awesome Koeneman Park. The park boasts a walking trail, baseball field, softball field, picnic areas, playground, and a 6-acre fishing lake. Lots of family fun and memories are being made at this community hub! If you’re looking for a grander outdoor experience (no offense to the great Koeneman), visit the dramatic Jones-Confluence Point State Park. This amazing place is where the Mighty Mississippi and Missouri Rivers meet. You can hike, bike, swim, fish, stare at wildlife… or walk around in wonder. If you decide you don’t want to leave, that’s fine too. The park has campsites available for your sleeping-under-the-stars pleasure. No matter where you decide to rent an apartment, you won’t be far from enjoying the outdoors in this town.

Education and Events About Town

Children of Jennings get educated through the Jennings School District. The district includes five elementary schools, one junior high school, and one high school and has won national awards. Jennings also pays their teachers well. They are the highest-paying school district in the state of Missouri, so if you’re a teacher, perhaps you should check out the classifieds here!

There are definitely perks to living in North St. Louis County and one of them is…festivals, festivals, and more festivals!
