A Day at the Lake

Just north of town is a monumental national forest and some of the prettiest lakefront scenery you can find this side of the Mississippi. William B. Bankhead National Forest is a short 10 miles away, and has all the offerings of a large wildlife area. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and biking are all at your disposal. If you are more of a water person, Lewis Smith Lake is adjacent to the national park and great for boating and grilling on the shore with some friends and loved ones. This is the real reason people move to Alabama: To enjoy the great outdoors.

Top-notch Education

Alabama may not be one of the top states when it comes to their education system, with other larger, more well-funded states topping that category. However, they are up and coming, and Jasper is leading the way. Compared to the rest of the state, Jasper is one of the top-ranked education systems and continues to make improvements in all the important ways. The public school system alone spends more than $4,500 per student and is on par, if not improving, against benchmarks from other states in the United States. This is hugely important when considering where to live, especially if kids are in the picture.
