Sea Lookout Park
Isla Vista is filled with lush parks, but one of the community's favorite is definitely the Sea Lookout Park. It is the town's largest oceanside park and offers gorgeous ocean views for those looking to lie in the grass, have a picnic, or play some volleyball with friends. The park also features wooden structures, giving visitors a nice place to reflect as they gaze out over the ocean. While there, make sure to check out the plaque commemorating the Isla Vista Tree. This cypress tree once stood as a symbol for Isla Vista's quest for self-governance, but it sadly fell into the ocean years ago.
Jugglers, unicyclists, magicians, and clowns all come together at the annual Isla Vista Juggling Festival. For over 35 years, this festival has served as a fun way to bring the world's wackiest hobbies and skills together in one place. The Juggling Festival is held for one weekend each August, featuring a free show at the Isla Vista Theater on Saturday night. Even if you cannot juggle one ball, let alone three, you are sure to have a good time. And for those that would love to learn how to juggle, the festival also has many workshops to help get you started.
Grab a Slice from Woo
No college town would be complete without a great pizza joint. For Isla Vista, this is Woodstock's. Of course Woodstock's has amazingly delicious pizza that is a weekend staple for every resident of Isla Vista. However, this pizza place is much more than that. It is also a great hangout with a huge beer selection that includes many local microbrews. Woodstock's also hosts a Tuesday Trivia Night, which is a fun way to spend a night out with friends. Whatever you do, do not forget to grab an order of Cinnabread the end of the night for dessert.
