Small Town, Big Fun

It's a well-known fact that everything is bigger in Texas. The town of Humble may have started from Humble origins (quite literally, since it was founded by a man named Pleasant Humble) but it has grown into a town of around 10,000. A small town by Texas standards, anyway, Humble is a close-knit community that values the friendships forged between neighbors. Apartment renters who move into town won't have any trouble making friends and finding ways to have fun. The town is big enough to be home to a variety of different daytime and nighttime activities and far enough from the big city to give renters a chance to enjoy nature. Renters who want a little city life from time to time can head down to Houston, the fourth largest city in the country, to enjoy museums, live theatrical performances, sports games, and dancing the night away at one of Houston's may clubs.

From Humble Origins

Though the first American settlers arrived in Humble at the beginning of the 1800s, the population remained small until oil was discovered in the area at the turn of the next century. Oil brought thousands of new settlers into town, increasing the population to around 10,000 practically overnight. For many, the move to Humble turned out to be a prosperous one. Today, the oil has been tapped out, but the land is still productive and commonly used for farming. There is a good balance of industries in and around Humble, and apartment renters who move into town will be able to find work in a variety of different fields (no pun intended). And though the oil may be gone, the celebration of the industry that created this town is still going strong. Each year, residents of Humble can head out to the Good Oil Days festival for fun, games, food and a great way to get to know the neighbors.

The Great Outdoors

The city of Humble is located just south of the westernmost section of the Lake Houston Wilderness Park. Renters who enjoy outdoor activities will be able to make use of the nearly 5,000 acres of wilderness area around this large lake. The waterways are perfect for boating and fishing and the fishing for catfish and white bass is particularly good in the lake. After a day on the water, visitors to the lake can camp, BBQ some fish for dinner, and then wake up early to go for a hike or a trail ride on horseback. Heading out a little farther from Humble will give apartment renters access to beaches and ocean activities in the Gulf of Mexico. Within town, residents can enjoy a few different city-run parks that offer hiking, playgrounds, and places to picnic or BBQ with friends and neighbors.

Fun in the City

Humble is a big enough town that apartment renters will be able to find fun things to do any day of the week. Renters can join in with a team for a casual game of football or baseball, or they can head downtown to have a nice dinner and catch a movie. The residents of this town are friendly and open, helping make new transplants to Humble feel welcome right away.

For renters who are looking for a little more city life, Houston is only a short drive from Humble. There's even more to do in this city of 2.1 million including ample nightlife, art and culture, and daytime fun. This city is home to professional sports teams such as the Astros baseball team and the Texans football team. There are also countless attractions in Houston including a house made entirely of beer cans, fine art and novelty museums and Space Center Houston, where visitors can get up close and personal with one of NASA's most famous bases.
