The Hollis branch of the Queens library offers a variety of options for locals to enjoy. If you are interested in acting, check out the theatrical works offered by the library's STAR theater troupe. The library also hosts a number of events and classes catered to adults, including computer coding, interview skills, and writing clubs. You can also take advantage of the adult literacy program with classes that teach and encourage adults to read. In addition to these classes, the Hollis library also hosts pre-GED courses to help adults prepare for and obtain their GED certification.
Let Your Inner Child
When searching for something different to do, head over to Fun Station USA in Lynbrook. It is only a short 15-minute drive from Hollis and is a favorite place to go and enjoy a day of fun and games. Fun Station offers exactly what its name implies. You will find video games, a flight simulator, a roller coaster simulator, and a multi-level play maze. Enjoy a variety of different video games or try your hand at a game of laser tag. Other fun features include bumper cars, a carousel, and a turtle train for the little ones.
Play with Your Pup
If you have furry friends who enjoy running around outdoors with their fellow canines, you will find a host of dog parks in the area to visit. One of these is Underbridge Dog Run, which is only a short 15-minute drive from Hollis, offering separate large and small dog runs and plenty of shade. You may also want to head over to Valley Stream Dog Park, a half-acre expanse of land made suitable for dogs of all sizes. For those baby dogs, there is a separate section just for pups that weigh 30 pounds or less.
