Eating Great

Hazleton has a surprising number of excellent restaurants to whet your whistle. Martin's Restaurant, located on East Broad Street is run by a husband and wife team, but is highly rated for its excellent service and quaint environment. The nearby Ovalon Restaurant on North Wyoming Street takes reservations, but serves up some of the best Italian food you can find in the area. Although it is a short drive away, the Mirakuya Japanese Restaurant serves amazingly authentic Japanese food and should not be missed. The Mirakuya restaurant is a great place to go for an exotic dining experience.

Funfest Weekend

One of the most exciting events of the year in Hazleton, the yearly Funfest is designed to cater to both children and adults. The local Chamber of Commerce helps advertise the event each year, drawing in people from within the city and from points outside. Radio Disney makes an appearance and regular events and performances take place throughout the weekend. Though the event dates do vary to some degree, the festival is typically held in the end of September. You can wrap up the summer with Funfest every year, enjoying the social opportunity and community gatherings.

Visit the Laurel Driv

The Laurel Drive-In is an entertainment blast from the past. This drive-in still offers the same feel as it did when it was first opened in 1950. In fact, the business is even run by the same family. Prices are remarkably affordable and many patrons compliment the drive-in for its great movie choices. Although this venue closes during the winter months, it is open quite early in the spring and quite late into the fall. Attending the drive-in is a great family activity, as you can bring a carload of people and hang out while catching a couple of fantastic films.
