Six Flags Great Ameri

One of the most popular attractions for both residents and visitors in Gurnee is Six Flags Great America, a mega amusement park and tourist destination. The large amusement park provides fun for the entire family. Spanning over 304 acres, the park has nine different sections featuring a different theme. A 16-acre water park and two children’s areas are also located within the park. With many different thrill rides, shopping opportunities, and dining options, you can spend the day enjoying everything the park has to offer, with the whopping 51 different rides featured at this Six Flags location.

Gurnee Mills

If shopping is something you enjoy, Gurnee Mills should be on your list of places to visit. As the largest mall in Illinois at over 1,800,000 square feet, it has something for everyone. The mall first opened in 1991 and is shaped like a Z with its single level design. More than 20 million people visit Gurnee Mills yearly and large retail giants such as Sears and Bass Pro Shops are located here. Featuring over 200 stores, the mall also has dining options if you are looking for a bite to eat after a long day of shopping.

Gurnee Days

To encourage community involvement and raise city spirit, the city offers the large Gurnee Days festivities. The vibrant celebration offers a family-friendly event with activities designed to accommodate both young and old. Funded by local businesses, the event takes place every August in the Village Center. Each year a different theme is used to take the excitement up a notch. Some of the activities include a parade, children’s games, stage events, and model shows. A variety of food vendors are also part of the event so you can enjoy a meal or quick snack during the celebration.
