The Arts in Griffin

For of a town of its size Griffin is home to a remarkable arts scene. The Griffin Auditorium seats 1,100 and host lots musical, dance, and theater productions. The Griffin Community Concert Association attracts international talent from both the classical and popular music worlds, while the Griffin Ballet Theater performs in the auditorium throughout the year. Enjoy the group's exceptional rendition of The Nutcracker every holiday season. For fine theater, check out the two active theater groups in Griffin, The Main Street Players and the Camelot Theater Company, offering classic, contemporary, and children's productions regularly throughout the year.

Southern Golfing

Griffin takes the pursuit of golf seriously. With six courses in the local area, there is an appropriate green to fit any taste and skill level. The City of Griffin Municipal Golf Course is conveniently located in the center of town. For a more exclusive country club setting, the private Sun City Peachtree Golf Course offers a professional level course with access to extensive practice areas for members. A third option is the local favorite Morgan Dairy Golf Club. Situated in the farmland Southeast of central Griffin, Morgan Dairy was built by community members, offering the lost local flavor of the nearby courses.

Cemetery Tourism

A tour of local graveyards might seem macabre, but cemeteries actually offer a unique insight into local history and the characters that make an area what it is. The City of Griffin published an illustrated history and guide to the area's four historic cemeteries, telling the stories of those buried beneath the large ornate monuments. History buffs will enjoy the stories of those buried beneath the small markers faded by time, some dating back to before the Civil War. However, one does not need the historical background to take in an afternoon exploring any of these sprawling green spaces located around Griffin.
