Grand Prairie, Texas

Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth and has a population of about 154,000. The city has a long history with aviation manufacturing and technology but has also been a great residential area as well. Typical of many Texas towns, only the immediate central area is very walkable so when starting the search for your Grand Prairie apartment know that you'll need a car for commuting and getting around.

Horse Racing Scene

With its proximity to two large cities, it is only minutes in either direction to world class museums and attractions but Grand Prairie has plenty to do right within its city limits.Lone Star Park is a thoroughbred and quarter horse race track which is holds its meets from April through July. The GPX Skate Park is maintained by the city and has held world class trials. Traders Village is one of the largest flea markets anywhere, and is held each weekend throughout the year. It's a great place to buy or just stroll around looking at both the items and the people. The Nokia Theatre is a huge venue for both concerts and theatre, and the shows change constantly. There's always something there worth seeing and your Grand Prairie apartment won't be far from any of it.

All Day Breakfasts

Locals start their days at the Waffle House which serves up breakfast all day and great burgers and melts during the day. It is a great place to satisfy that middle of the night hunger pang. Che Hong Kong gets high ratings for Vietnamese food by both locals and people working in the area. There are great Mexican places like Don Pablo's which is traditional Mexican cuisine or try Agua Azul for Mexican seafood dishes. You can't go wrong at either of them. Pizzas, fast food (especially Sonic) and others are widely available too.

Watering Holes

You'll find plenty of watering holes at night and once settled into your Grand Prairie apartment you'll want to find one close to home. In the meanwhile, there's Appleby's, Chili's and more local places like Dave's Backroom Bar and Le Bar. With Dallas just a few minutes away, you can find upscale dance clubs and nightclubs there.
