Gautier: Gulf Coastin' It
The area in and around Gautier is an awesome destination for eco-tourists. Gautier's proximity to Biloxi Bay and Mississippi’s barrier islands makes it easy for renters to go out exploring. If you like hiking, bird watching, and boating, this might be the perfect town for you.
Gautier in Brief
Once a small, rural community, Gautier has grown both in size and population over the past decade. In 2002, it annexed some nearby territory and now it stands tall and proud with 32 square miles of sultry southern landscape to call its own. The chamber of commerce would also like potential renters to “know that the City of Gautier pledges our support to ensure our city would be a viable and profitable location for your company, and a great place to bring your family!”
Gautier has been lauded both for its first-rate high schools (which is really saying something in Mississippi) and its plethora of services for retirees. Don’t take our word for it; check out the article by U.S. News & World Report. Not too shabby Gautier. Not too shabby at all.
Fun under the Gulf Coast Sun
Gautier is an ideal location for outdoor recreation. On the bayou, you can spot alligators, migratory birds, and get to know the terrain as well as the swamp people do by taking a tour of the Pascagoula River, the ""longest unimpeded river in the lower 48."" We can't guarantee you'll leave much like you came in, but you'll definitely have a story to tell/smell.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Attractions Association (phew, go ahead and call it ""MGCAA"" instead) has a full menu of its own gulf coast adventures as well. From canoeing and kayaking to bird watching and gator spotting, it leaves no pebble of white hot Mississippi beach sand unturned in its quest to suggest quests. The Audubon Center is also a great resource if you’re looking for fun under the gulf coast sun.

Is Gautier a family friendly town?
In some regards it is, and in others it isn't. More positive attributes of Gautier include its public schools. Gautier students attend schools belonging to three different school districts: the Jackson County School District, the Ocean Springs School District, and the Pascagoula School District. The first two were rated in the top 95th percentile (or better) of Mississippi's schools, and the last was still ranked in the 55th percentile. However, Gautier isn't as safe as it could be.
