Enjoying the Outdoors

You will not find a shortage of parks in the Garfield area. With Nash Park and Belmont Hill Park, you are sure to find outdoor fun and activities to enjoy during the warm spring, summer, and fall months the whole family can enjoy. These parks offer playgrounds for the kids, ample picnic areas for outdoor eats, and basketball hoops, as well baseball and softball fields for some casual hitting or Garfield league play. The parks and recreation department also sponsors junior wrestling and a thriving community center with activities to enjoy all year long.

Jewell Street Spraygr

If your kids love to play around in water, particularly during hot summer months, they will love Garfield's Jewell Street Sprayground. Though winters here can be quite cold, summers in New Jersey can get similarly intense, so it is a good thing there are public resources like this mini water park for kids to enjoy when the weather gets sunny and warm. Not only is this park a great place for kids to cool down, but it is also a great place for little ones to get some much-needed exercise, particularly during the school-free months when keeping them busy is essential.
