Located almost 60 miles north of Denver, Fort Collins sits on the Cache la Poudre River and has a population of 137,000. It is home to Colorado State University, Hewlett Packard manufacturing and a huge Anheuser-Busch facility. You should know that Fort Collins is an easy town to get around in. It has more than 280 miles of designated bike lanes, a good bus system, and while the freeways are busy, they aren't insurmountable. An apartment in Fort Collins will afford you a great lifestyle!
Live Music and Microbreweries
Of course much of the culture revolves around CSU. There's a terrific live music sceneas well as there being a number of microbreweries. The Old Town section hosts may festivals each year, there's a symphony orchestra, touring companies of Broadway shows and Lincoln Center is a wealth of performing arts venues. And with the Roosevelt National Forest nearby, there's ample opportunity for hiking and trail biking.City parks are plentiful and ski resorts aren't far away either. Guinness Stew or Vegan
Start your day at fantastic places like Mugs Coffee Lounge or Lucile's. Both are friendly and have excellent breakfasts! If you're into vegan, Tasty Harmony is tops but if you like meat then Lucky Joe's is where the locals go for Guinness stews. If it's a steak you're craving then check out the Canyon Chop House. It gets rave reviews. In the Old Town area, the Coopersmith Brewing Company seems to be everyone's favorite. Pub, pool hall and restaurant, it has everything going for it.
Smallest Bar in Colorado
Because Fort Collins is a college town, expect and find some great dive bars. They run the gamut from Pitchers Sports Restaurant to Town Pump, which is the smallest bar in Colorado. Take cash as that's all they take and their ATM is outrageously expensive.You'll find live music at Lucky Joe's as well as the Island Grill, Avogadro's and ‘round Midnight for dancing.
