Permanent exhibitions include Ancient Egyptian and Greek art, art of the Americas, and an African section. The museum also specializes in a variety of community art classes for both children and adults. Also included are occasional new travelling exhibits or featured speakers to keep residents coming back time and time again.
A local gem in Fitchburg, Coggshill Park is located on the shores of Mirror Lake covering around 300 acres that include a bird sanctuary and nature preserve. The park is famous for the picturesque gazebo built out over the waters of the lake, but the miles of hiking and recreational trails are the enduring attractions here. In the spring, swans take up residence in the park, in autumn the outrageous colors on the trees bring out the photographers, and in winter Mirror Lake is perfect for a cold weather skating session. Amenities also include a playground and a Frisbee golf course.
