The Parklands

On the edge of town along the Floyds Fork Creek, lie the Parklands. The Parklands is actually made up of four parks that total nearly 4,000 acres. They were created on the belief that great public parks can enhance people's quality of life. These parks include tons of fun recreational amenities, such as playgrounds, picnic pavilions, walking trails, and fishing lakes. The Beckley Creek Park, which was the first of the four parks to open, offers a scenic two-mile trail for walkers and cyclists to enjoy. For the more adventurous, there is also a 19-mile trail that connects all four of the parks.

Family Fall Festival

Join the Fern Creek community in the city's most popular event of the year, the Fern Creek Family Fall Festival. Held at the Fern Creek Community Center in October, this festival is a fun way to celebrate autumn and all the seasonal foods and games that it brings. This means that there will be trick-or-treating, spooky storytelling, pumpkin painting, and horse rides. You will also find seasonal treats and refreshments available as well. For families looking to have a safe and fun way to enjoy the season, there is no better place to be.

Smokehouse BBQ

Everyone knows that Kentucky is famous for its barbecue. So, when people from Louisville tell you that the Smokehouse BBQ has the best barbecue in town, you have to believe that they know what they are talking about. In fact, you will only have to eat here once to realize that the Smokehouse is the real deal. Located in Fern Creek, this restaurant prides itself on its barbecue, from pulled pork to brisket. It does not stop there, however. It also has fresh and delicious sides to perfectly complement your barbecue, such as fried pickles, cornbread, and collard greens.
