    Located just south of the something Columbia River and nestled between many forests and parks, much of what is fun to do in Fairview revolves around nature. Parks along the river include Government Island State Park, Sandy River Delta Park, and Reed Island State Park, and the river and Fairview Lake feature fishing, swimming, and boating. Mt. Hood National Forest to the east offers an abundance of hiking, biking, and front- and backcounty camping opportunities. For the indoor set, Fairview is also home to various restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, although residents often prefer to venture into nearby Portland, located just 20 minutes to the west.

  • Do most people in Fairview rely on public transportation?

    Quite a few Fairview residents--or close to 6 percent--rely on public transportation to get around. This number may seem insignificant compared to the 75 percent that drives a car to commute to work on a daily basis, but it's actually 300 percent greater than the Oregon average and 220 percent greater than the national average. TriMet provides public transportation in Portland and surrounding towns, including Fairview, by way of buses and trains. Bus lines 12 and 77 both connect Fairview with downtown Portland.
